ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

Rachel Lynett is an Arkansas-based playwright and theatre artist. Her recent playwriting credits include GOOD BAD PEOPLE as part of Talk Back Theatre's Reading Series (2018), part of Jackalope Theatre's CIRCLE UP series (2017) and as part of Unicorn Theatre’s Plays In Progress (2018); WELL-INTENTIONED WHITE PEOPLE as the Downstage Left Residency with Stage Left (2017), part of Orlando Shakespeare New Play Festival (2017), and received its world premiere with Barrington Stage Company in August 2018. Her play, ABORTION ROAD TRIP was produced by Theatre Prometheus as a part of the 2017 Kennedy Center Page to Stage Festival. Her play, HE DID IT receive a workshop reading as part of the inaugural Pegasus PlayLab in June 2018.

Leah Brenner as Hot Lex

He Did It marks Leah’s debut with the Equity Library Theatre- Chicago. Previously in Chicago she has performed with The Other Theatre Company and in various films. She is a recent transplant from Indianapolis where she has performed a variety of roles with Indiana Repertory Theatre, Phoenix Theatre, Actors Theatre of Indiana, Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, and many more. She has continued her training with Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Mass., Sanford Meisner Technique in Indianapolis, and the Acting Studio Chicago. She currently splits her time between Chicago, Indianapolis, and Los Angeles, and produces a staged reading series called Recasting in which plays and musicals are performed with non-traditional casting to observe and discuss how changes in gender/race affect the dynamics of status and power in storytelling. Special thanks to Carrie Lee and this glorious cast/crew and love to the FemiNest.

Kayla Carter as Ada

Kayla is super excited to be a part of this excellent and timely reading. She can currently be seen in Mansfield Park at Northlight Theatre. Other Chicago credits include Smart People (Writers Theatre) and work with The Shakespeare Project of ChicagoArtemesia, and Victory Gardens. TV: Chicago Med, APB. Film: the upcoming independent feature Knives and Skin. She is a graduate of University of North Carolina School of the Arts.  As always, for Ellis.

Jeff Kurysz as Bryn

Jeff Kurysz is so thrilled to be working on this project. Television credits include Crisis (NBC); Chicago Fire (NBC); Proven Innocent (FOX). He is a graduate of The School at Steppenwolf.

Sarah Razmann as Kara

SARAH RAZMANN is thrilled to be performing with Equity Library Theatre. Her past five years in Chicago have included working with Lookingglass, Chicago Shakespeare, The House Theatre of Chicago, Drury Lane, Route 66 Theatre Co, Strange Tree Theatre and Theater Wit. Regionally she’s performed with Asolo Rep and Notre Dame Shakespeare, and can be seen on last season's Chicago PD. You can watch her hang from the ceiling at the Actor's Gymnasium as she continues her training and performance in aerial circus arts, and many thanks to her wonderful agents at Grossman and Jack. 

Camille Robinson as Lex

Camille Robinson is honored to be a part of this reading series which gives voices to those who don't often get to tell their own stories. She can currently be seen as Mary Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life: Live in Chicago! with American Blues Theater and Nurse Tanya in NBC's Chicago MED. She is a proud member of Actors' Equity and SAG-AFTRA. Represented by Gray Talent Group.

Carrie Lee Patterson - Director

In 2015, Carrie Lee was awarded an individual artist grant to create the ongoing All Access: An Equity Library Theatre Reading Series, which introduces new plays featuring characters who are women, people of color, LGBTQ+, and/or disabled, and she is thrilled to work on Rachel Lynett's HE DID IT with a cast as passionate as she is about the timely conversation it invokes. Her directing credits include Equity Library Theatre (COME BACK), Artemisia Theatre (VISITING), Nomades Theatre (PHOENIX), Red Theatre Chicago (YEAR OF THE ROOSTER),  Attic Playhouse (I HATE HAMLET), Peck Theatre (I DO, I DO), North Central College (VINEGAR TOM), University of Nebraska (THE TAMING OF THE SHREW) and Graceland University (SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER). She is a graduate of Willamette University, earned her MFA from the University of Arizona, and is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.



..ALL ACCESS: A READING SERIES OF NEW PLAYS

All Access is an ongoing reading series that began in 2015 with a grant from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. Its purpose is to promote new plays that bring to bear voices that are underrepresented in our culture's storytelling: to wit, plays that feature characters who are women, people of color, LGBTQ+, and/or disabled. The readings are rehearsed with an experienced director and performed by an all-Equity cast.
